Blumama - Abijan, Cote d/Ivoire
Skin Care & Beauty Products - Handmade and Locally Sourced Ingredients
The nomenclature "Blumama" derived from the endearment of an African girl who had the darkest skin color among her peers. Shadows of blue described her complexion, making her feel invariably different from others. Nevertheless, she was loved by her family and referred to as “Blu Mama”.
Blu Mama graciously developed into a woman that many admired. She became well-known for her woolly - brown, thick, gorgeous locks. Her locks extended far beyond her curvy hips. Embodied by her midnight glowing skin, she walked tall with poise and grace. One was often compelled to blush just by being in her presence. Many were overwhelmed by her charm and beauty as well.
Relentlessly, Blu Mama prepared beauty concoctions made from bitter plants mixed into various fats and essential oils. Her grooming consisted of rolling corn cob fiber needles onto her scalp and body. This process of exfoliation not only allowed her skin cells to regenerate but it also stimulated her scalp hair strands to grow out fully.
Astute to becoming well-balanced with nature, she ate wildly grown fruits and nuts throughout their harvest seasons. Blu Mama made it a point to consume plenty of freshwater. Naturally, her intake of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants came easy due to her healthy diet. She often took great pleasure in steaming her body with grassland teas, roots, leaves, mud, and algae as a way to be in tune with her silhouette frame, while relaxing her mind. Awaken early every morning by the sound of the hummingbirds, she joyfully sings along. Unconsciously, this practice kept her face nicely toned, and glowingly ageless.
At present, more than a century later, she is admired by her descendants and women who equally want to identify to her, the enchanting though never forgotten, “Blumama”.
